2. The anticipated lake freeze

As the mercury starts to drop and temperatures cool off, Lake Louise starts to transform from its beautiful blue hue into a frozen wonder. Keep your eyes peeled for ice starting to form across the lake, and if you’re lucky, you might even catch the moment it freezes over, although that is oftern overnight!

Fun fact: In 2023, the lake fully froze late-November. However, if Mother Nature delivers cool temperatures we could have an earlier freeze this year.

3. Mild temperatures

November hits the sweet spot with milder temperatures—right after summer, but before winter’s icy chill. It’s perfect for bundling up in layers and shedding them as the day warms up. No need to rush indoors; you can truly soak in the winter magic without freezing your toes off!

4. Hot Chocolate Trail

Don’t miss this scenic viewpoint of a dramatic bend along the Bow River where trains pass through the Canadian Rockies. Named after Nicholas Morant, a photographer working for the Canadian Pacific Railway in the mid-20th century. It’s a worth-while stop, only 15 minutes from our hotel.
