Perfect family itinerary for a Lake Louise vacation
A first-timer’s guide to the perfect Lake Louise family vacation:
Day 1:
Arrive and check-in to Fairmont Chateau Lake Louise. Enjoy an evening canoe experience followed by dinner at Fairview Bar & Restaurant.
Day 2:
Wake up bright and early because today you take a trail ride on horseback to the Lake Agnes Tea House with Brewster Adventures! When you’ve made your way back down the mountain, head over to the Lake Louise Ski Resort & Summer Gondola for a ride up the Lake Louise Summer Gondola to enjoy lunch at Whitehorn Bistro.
Day 3:
Make the scenic drive to Banff for a Boat Cruise on Lake Minnewanka followed by dinner filled with local favourites at Park Distillery, Restaurant + Bar on Banff Ave. Wander and explore the Banff Town Site before making your way back to Lake Louise.
Day 4:
Fuel up with a delicious breakfast (in-bed?) from the In-Room Dining menu, because today you’re heading on a Mountain Adventure guided hike to beautiful Saddleback Pass! The half-day hike leaves lots of time to explore Lake Louise or take a well-deserved rest!
Day 5:
Time to drive west for some sight-seeing! Your destination: stunning Emerald Lake. On the way, be sure to stop at the Spiral Tunnels, Takakkaw Falls and have lunch at a local favourite, Truffle Pigs.

Day 1:
Arrive and check-in to Fairmont Chateau Lake Louise. Once you’ve settled in your room, head down to the Boathouse for your private evening Voyageur Canoe experience. Our Mountain Adventure Guides will share their deep knowledge of all things Lake Louise on this guided paddle in a traditional Voyageur canoe. After taking in all of that fresh mountain air, you will be more than ready for a dinner at Fairview Bar & Restaurant.
Day 2:
Fuel up with a delicious breakfast from our In-Room Dining menu because today you’re going to conquer new peaks on a private Mountain Adventure guided hike up Mount St. Piran. Afterwards enjoy a much-needed post-hike stretch and roll class.
Day 3:
Today you head west to go White Water Rafting on the Kicking Horse River! On the way, stop and see Emerald Lake, the Spiral Tunnels and Takakkaw Falls. Enjoy lunch at Truffle Pigs, a local best-kept secret, on the way back to your home away from home.
Day 4:
Take another scenic drive to take the Banff Gondola up Sulphur Mountain (or hike up to get in some extra steps!). Once you’ve snapped some pics for the ‘Gram,’ spend the afternoon exploring the Banff town site, followed by dinner at The Vermillion Room at the Fairmont Banff Springs.
Day 5:
Wake up with the birds this morning for your Sunrise Canoe experience, there is nothing quite like watching the first light peak over the mountains and hit the Victoria Glacier. Take breakfast to-go and enjoy it al-fresco in the Adirondack chairs outside the Chateau. Once you’re fueled up, take the guest shuttle to Moraine Lake and enjoy the easy (but worth it!) walk to Consolation Lakes.
